Don Delwood

Elder
Background: My family traveled the country from east coast to west coast, finally settling in Houston (where my dad still practices dentistry). I studied bio-chemistry at the University of Houston and got my doctorate in medicine at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. My wife Mary and I moved to Missouri for what we thought would be a few years. However, we fell in love with central Missouri, decided to stay to build our home and family. We home schooled our two children (Daniel and Christine) now (almost) done with their college training. Mary was very active with the initial growth of The Crossing serving on the worship team. The Lord took Mary home in ’03.
For those who believe in a sovereign God, coincidences become meaningful and cause to glorify Him. I became re-acquainted with my child-hood sweetheart, and though she lived in remote Laramie, Wyoming, Sally and I were married in Summer ’05. We blended her children (Tracy and Jeff) and have been wonderfully blessed. We have been partially home schooling Tracy as she finishes up with high school.
Christine and Tim just got married; Jeff and Ashley soon will be married. So, our family continues to grow.
Hobbies: Sally and I love the outdoors and we love to exercise. You’ll often find us either at the ARC or riding bikes on the MKT trail. I have been very active with computers and especially the Macintosh user community.
Interests: I enjoy reading on theological topics. Since the early 90’s I have been studying biblical counseling and now Sally and I study this together. We hope to continue to serve at The Crossing as biblical counselors.
Music: Am always interested in the next musical horizon. I enjoy finding new sounds and artists and have a wide collection of tastes depending on my activity. However, I always come back to Yes and Genesis.
Favorite Food: This is easy–sushi.
What I’d like to Do More: Tend my garden. However, the deer and moles usually frustrate my best efforts. If you have a suggestion, I’d love to hear it…
Favorite Podcast: Photoshop User TV, Covenant Seminary course lectures.
Favorite Movies: Sub-B martial arts films, preferably with sub-titles and the occasional vampire thrown in.
Professional Stuff: Internal Medicine. I really love the interaction with people, the puzzle of the unknown diagnosis. I am director of the ICU (intensive care unit) which allows me to mix my love for medicine and technology with theology and ethics.
