The C.O.R.E. of Kids Club 
Why do we do Kids Club? Four main goals drive why, what, and how we do this church-wide event.  

Community-Building in the Church: Kids Club brings momentum to our church each year as it brings people of all ages together to build relationships, serve together, and have fun together. Children meet new friends. Kids and leaders often form a special bond. Students and adults who serve feel more connected to our church. Many adults want to return each year just as much as the kids!   

Outreach and Service to Others: Kids Club provides a unique opportunity to reach out to other kids and families in our community. We strive to make it an easy event to invite non-believers and other friends to. Every year, a few new families end up coming to our church after their kids attend. We also provide service opportunities for the children who attend, so they learn to serve others. 

Reach Kids Hearts and Minds: From the beginning of Kids Club, our goal was to reinvent the typical VBS. We want to reach kids’ hearts and minds for Christ by going above and beyond what we can typically do on Sunday mornings. Much like a camp experience, we hope to create a memorable and life-changing week where kids hear the Gospel in creative, fun ways and build relationships with others who will encourage them in their faith.  

Equip Families: Because parents have a biblical mandate to be the primary spiritual leaders of their family, we want to partner with and equip them in their God-given tasks. Kids Club is yet another chance for parents and the church to team up and maximize our potential for influencing the next generation for Christ. Our Parent and Volunteer Devotional, Facebook, Instagram, memory verse song, and Family Take-Home Activity at the end of the week are a few ways we hope to equip families this year.

WHO

All 3-year-olds (by July 31, 2024) through rising 5th graders are welcome to participate. All rising 6-8th graders are welcome to be Junior Leaders. Finally, all rising 9th graders or older are welcome to be volunteers. 

WHAT

Join us for Kids Club 2024 as we traverse the barren desert, trek through the arctic tundra, explore the jungle, and go on an underwater adventure in search of our great reward. Together, we’ll explore God’s faithfulness by looking at the story of Abraham, and we’ll learn that God always keeps his promises, and they come true through Jesus, our great reward.

WHEN

June 3rd-6th, 2024, 5:30-8:30 pm 

WHERE

The Crossing, 3615 Southland Drive (Southland is off Rock Quarry Road, south of Grindstone Parkway)

$45/child, which includes a t-shirt and dinner each night. No refunds after May 15.

Kids Club Volunteer Training

Wednesday, May 29, 6-7:30 p.m.

This is our mandatory training for everyone volunteering during Kids Club. You’ll receive more information about this year’s Kids Club, meet your team, and learn about your role. Childcare and dinner for adults and kids will be provided. Note: A few teams may be asked to stay a little later than 7:30 p.m.
A make-up training will be offered on Thursday, May 30, on zoom from 7-8 p.m. or Sunday, June 2, from 11 – 11:55 a.m. in the Student Center.

Junior Leader Training 

Wednesday, May 29, 5:15 – 6 p.m. (Note this is before your mandatory volunteer training)

We will discuss ways to help you be an effective leader, answer questions, and get pumped for Kids Club week together. Make-up training will be available on Sunday, June 2, from 11 – 11:55 a.m. in the Student Center, and the Junior Leaders will meet at the end of this time. All Junior Leaders must attend in-person meetings. We will not offer zoom makeup training.

Yes, if you’re helping during the week of Kids Club, you’re welcome to sign up your infants through 2-year-olds for our free childcare. Note: this is only for volunteers’ children. You can register your little one online when you sign up to serve. T-shirts for childcare kids will be available for purchase.

How many children do you take per age group?

We have space for 732 children (90 elementary children in each grade and 192 preschoolers). We also take 110 middle school students (rising 6th – 8th) as Junior Leader volunteers. Unfortunately, our numbers are all limited based on fire code numbers and space constraints.

Can I find out where my child is on the wait list?

Unfortunately, we can’t release this information. However, we treat each waitlist spot fairly based on when they signed up.

When will I hear whether my child will be moved off the wait list?

This isn't easy to know because we will add children to each grade as an opening occurs. However, we do take many children off the wait list every year. We will not accept any children from the wait list after May 15.

How will I know if my child is accepted?

You will receive a phone call and text from us indicating that an opening has occurred. We will then send an email with a link to sign up and pay for your child officially. You will have 24 hours to sign your child up. At that time, please let us know if your plans have changed so we can offer this spot to another child on the waitlist.

If I volunteer, will this help my child get off the wait list?

We appreciate all our volunteers, but unfortunately, this does not give your child a spot.

I signed up to volunteer, but my child didn’t get in, so I won’t be able to volunteer.

We understand this might happen. Please let us know when you decide.

What happens if I have other registered children but want to remove them if my child on the wait list doesn’t get in?

It will help us to know this now. You can email [email protected] and let us know your wishes. We will email all registrants by May 10 to determine if plans have changed. This sometimes creates a rippling effect which opens spots up in other ages.

Will I receive a refund if I signed my child up for a different grade, paid, and then was moved to the waitlist?

Yes, we will process refunds after we confirm that your child will NOT be coming to Kids Club.

Whom should I tell if my plans change and I want to remove my child from the wait list?

Do middle schoolers on the waitlist ever get a spot as a Jr Leader? 

Yes! We end up taking kids from the wait list each year. This happens as people’s plans often change, and students can no longer serve.

How will I know if my middle schooler is getting a spot as a Jr Leader?

You will receive an email letting you know a spot has opened and a link to register your student as a Jr Leader. You will have 24 hours to sign your student up. If your student no longer wants to serve as a Jr Leader, please let us know ASAP so we can offer the spot to someone else.

When will I hear whether my Jr Leader will be moved off the wait list?

We will contact families as Jr Leader spots open, so you may hear from us within a couple of days or a couple of weeks. We will not take anybody off the wait list after May 29.

If I volunteer, will this help my middle schooler get off the wait list?

We appreciate all our volunteers, but unfortunately, this does not give your student a spot. We understand if you cannot volunteer if your student does not get a spot as a Jr Leader.

If my child gets off the waitlist, will he or she still get to pick who they serve with?

We will do our best to pair students with a friend (they can request one person); however, because spots are so limited, we cannot guarantee that students who get moved from the waitlist will be with a friend, especially if it’s closer to our May 29th deadline.

Can I find out where my child is on the wait list?

You are welcome to ask if your student is near the top or bottom of the waitlist; however, we cannot give you an exact number. We treat each waitlist spot fairly based on when they signed up.

Why do you only accept a limited number of Jr Leaders?

We are only able to take a limited number of students in order to help Jr Leaders learn how to serve and do that well.
