Surviving the Holidays is a two-hour seminar being held this year on Saturday, November 11 at 10 a.m. This seminar provides practical information and helpful advice for people grieving the loss of a significant relationship due to divorce or death.

The Crossing runs two unique events - one specific to those going through divorce and another for those who have lost a loved one to death. These seminars each address the changes and difficulties associated with the significant holidays in the wake of a lost relationship. (The advice can certainly also be applied to other holidays during that year that are significant to you.)  

This group meets monthly to offer support to women with a chronic health condition of any kind. The goal of this ministry is to offer a biblically-based community aimed at growing in how to live out gospel-driven courage & hope in the midst of chronic physical illness. Meetings alternate between in-person gatherings and zoom meetings.

FAM! (Foster/Adoptive Ministry) offers support for all current, previous, or aspiring foster and adoptive parents. This group gathers most months to connect families that are walking a similar path. Through these gatherings, the goal is to build an encouraging community, while also focusing on providing learning opportunities to grow and develop as foster/adoptive parents.

The Funeral Team assists grieving families in our church community by offering assistance with planning memorial services held at The Crossing, including the offer of a funeral meal if desired. This team collaborates with other Care Teams to facilitate ongoing meals and prayer support as needed.

Volunteers on this team visit individuals who are hospitalized, are in a longer-term rehabilitation facility, or are homebound. We seek to bring hope, encouragement and prayer to those struggling with health issues.

In addition, some volunteers also regularly visit seniors living in elder care facilities, developing relationships with our older neighbors who no longer have the freedom to get out and about.

This active team provide meals for people during times of high stress or crisis such as the death of a loved one, surgery or illness, injury, emotional trauma or the birth of a baby. Volunteers can sign up to deliver a warm meal to a family in need, or can donate homemade freezer meals to be stored by the team leader for urgent needs.

The Crossing’s Prayer Ministry seeks to support and encourage people in their prayerful dependence upon God. Through prayer, we acknowledge that God is in control of our lives and wants us to seek his help (Matt. 7:7). As a church, we are committed to loving each other by going before God and asking for his help on the behalf of others, not just ourselves. This team crochets and/or knits lap blankets to be donated to individuals who are suffering from physical health issues of any kind - are undergoing surgery, battling cancer or other serious health concerns, etc. Blankets are delivered as Care Ministry is made aware of situations in our church community and beyond. This ministry works to foster authentic relationships within a community of single mothers. Functioning much like a small group, the Single Moms group meets weekly during the school year to support women as they raise their children and go deeper in their faith with Christ, by laughing together, learning together and praying together. The group welcomes single mothers outside of The Crossing membership as well, seeking to share their faith with the Columbia community.

The Crossing sponsors a men's addiction recovery support group that meets weekly at the church. This group exists to support men as they seek to walk free from addiction to drugs, alcohol, pornography, and other habitual, besetting sins. Through this group, men can share in a judgment-free environment wherein they are encouraged to walk more closely with Jesus Christ while discovering how the Lord meets us in the most difficult of struggles. This serving team offers practical assistance to individuals and nonprofit organizations in our community, delivering food and essential supplies to those who are isolated, elderly or in crisis; making meals or donating supplies; volunteering at local non-profits who are assisting others in our community, like food pantries and public housing areas; and more. This is a great way to serve if your schedule won't allow for regularly scheduled serving opportunities. Be kept informed of immediate needs and volunteer as your schedule permits!

This is a monthly serving opportunity, serving a meal to the homeless community in our city. It's a great way to serve one time or every month - sign up with a small group, your family, or on your own. A team leader plans the meal and provides all the food and items needed for the evening.

GracefulWait offers support to women who are struggling with infertility or have suffered the loss of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or early infant death. This group meets monthly, and is led by women who have also struggled with these painful realities. The group uses Christ-centered material to promote discussion and strengthen your faith during this painful reality/season of life.

The Card Writing Team is our newest ministry effort. These volunteers send handwritten notes of encouragement to those going through hard circumstances. We all know the joy of getting an unexpected card in the mail; through this small effort, this team seeks to send the simple message that God sees your circumstances and cares.

Are you at a crossroads with your health? Overwhelmed and fearing diabetes and the hardships that come along with it? SweetSpot is a new Care Ministry with the goal of providing peer support to anyone with this health concern. Whether you’re Type 1, Type 2, or Pre-Diabetic - you are welcome in this group, which meets monthly. SIgn up to attend.

JJC Bible Study needs volunteers who can commit to serving for less than two hours every few months for a minimum of one year. Volunteers visit the local Juvenile Justice Center and spend time leading a short bible study for groups of teens. Volunteers have the privilege of bringing the hope of the gospel to teens walking through a dark and difficult time of their lives. For more information or to join this team, contact Bailey.

This group meets monthly to offer support to women with a diagnosis of any type of cancer. This includes women who are currently going through treatment for this disease, as well as those living with the life-altering changes this diagnosis brings to daily life “on the other side of cancer.” Each month’s topic is stand-alone; we welcome women joining the group at any point. 

The Care Ministry is excited to expand our reach to Jefferson City! Hundreds of our church family live in this nearby town, and we want to have a physical presence there as well. This newest Care Team will offer meals, home and hospital visits, as well as prayer for those living in the Jefferson City area.

DivorceCare is a 12-session support group created by Church Initiative, a non-profit organization specializing in equipping churches to minister to those in pain and grief. DivorceCare is specifically designed to bring hope, healing, and comfort to those who have gone through separation and/or divorce. This class is led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. It provides valuable DivorceCare resources to help you deal with what is one of life’s most painful experiences and a community of individuals who are also walking the same path.

The next session begins Thursday, August 29. The cost to register is $37.50 and includes materials and dinner. Childcare is also included.

GriefShare is a 12-session support group that uses a curriculum developed by Church Initiative, a non-profit organization that specializes in equipping churches to minister to those in pain and grief. GriefShare uses a Christ-centered approach specifically designed to help those who have lost a loved one to death to cope with the loss and find healing and peace. This class is led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. It provides valuable resources to help you deal with what is one of life’s most painful experiences, as well as a community of individuals who are also experiencing the same loss.  

The next session begins Thursday, August 29. The cost to register is $37.50 for an individual or $50 for a couple. This includes materials and dinner. Childcare is also included.
