The Fountain of Living Water | Prayer on Jeremiah 2:11-13, 19

What would you exchange for the glory of God? The strongest motivation not to sin is when we understand the stupidity of turning from God as our only true satisfaction.  Jeremiah 2:11–13 ESV 11 But my people have changed their glory for that which does not profit. 12 Be appalled, O heavens, at this; be shocked, be utterly desolate, declares the LORD, 13 for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water. Romans 1:22–23 NIV 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. Psalm 16:4 NAS The sorrows of those who have bartered for another god will be multiplied; Psalm 36:9 ESV For with you is the fountain of life; John 4:13–14 NIV 13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Jeremiah 2:19 NIV Your wickedness will punish you; your backsliding will rebuke you.
